Welcome to UMBC Photo’s wordpress blog. I thought it would be nice to start a blog for the Photo Area as a place to post lab hours and news for students, faculty and alumni. I will be uploading students works to make this the place to see what is happening in Photo at UMBC.
Lynn Cazabon’s “Uncultivated” project draws attention to the tiny pockets of wildness within the urban environment, commonly known as weeds. Her photographs, artist-led field walks, bus-shelter posters, billboards and info website all celebrate Baltimore’s wild plants and document climate change.

Now that summer session one is over the lab if getting a much needed rest. During the remaining summer break construction work is going on in what was the Advanced B&W Lab. This lab is being converted to the new Alternative Processes Lab. The 4×5 enlargers have been moved into the Basic Lab which will now be called the B&W Darkroom. The displaced 35mm enlarges have been donated to Access Art, an after school art program in Baltimore City. Pictures and updates will be added here throughout the summer.
The lab is not completely closed during the summer. We have open lab times each Wednesday from 4-9pm until August 10th. Come on out and process your film or edit digital files in the Mac Lab. The lab fee is just $5 per visit.
Have a wonderful Summer
